Hassan Rohani, the lone reformist-backed candidate in Iran’s election, was announced president-elect today after winning enough votes to avoid a runoff.

Rohani won 50.7 percent of the about 37 million ballots counted, followed by Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf with 16.6 percent, Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar told reporters in Tehran. Nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and Former Revolutionary Guards commander Mohsen Rezai followed.
