Nick Cull and the USC Center on Public Diplomacy hosted Martin Rose on January 23, 2005. Rosepresented his paper, "Supporting the Acrobat: Public Diplomacy and Trust."

Martin Rose was educated at Oxford in Modern History and Oriental Studies. He had careers in academic publishing and international banking before joining the British Council in 1988. Since then he has been posted in Baghdad, Rome, London and Brussels. Since its inception in 2002 he has served as the director of Counterpoint, the British Council's think-tank on cultural relations.
