Cultural Exchanges: Impact and Innovation

Fulbright Association 42nd Annual Conference

As we navigate an increasingly volatile world of extreme tendencies, cultural diplomacy remains of enduring importance as a means of promoting peace and mutual understanding while supporting foreign policy objectives. CPD is pleased to partner with the Fulbright Association to explore the vital role of cultural exchanges in the increasingly distributed system of states and global society. The opening plenary convenes leading scholars and practitioners to discuss approaches to capturing the impact of cultural exchanges that embody both analytical rigor and practical solutions. It aims to inspire new thinking and debate on improving and innovating programmatic models and strategies for the future.

Panelists include:

  • Katherine Brown, President and CEO, Global Ties U.S.
  • Kathy Fitzpatrick, Professor, School of Communication, American University (moderator)
  • Erik Nisbet, Associate Professor, School of Communication, The Ohio State University
  • Jay Wang, Director, USC Center on Public Diplomacy; Associate Professor, USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism
