BBC World Service brings you a special day of programming to celebrate 80 years of international radio broadcasting.

What’s the future of international broadcasting? Tony Maddox, the executive vice president of news organisation CNN International, thinks that despite changes in the world media environment, there will always be a role for traditional broadcasting. He also paid tribute to the BBC World Service saying: “If you look at what the British have given the world, you’d have to put the World Service in the top ten. It’s an outstanding service.”
