Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is organizing international agricultural training for African countries at the agricultural training center in Lembang, West Java.

Director General of Public Information and Diplomacy at the Foreign Ministry Esti Andayani told participants undergoing training on Friday (April 1) that the training program is a follow up of a similar exercise held in Gambia from March 20 to 28 this year.

"In the last 17 years, Indonesia has provided 460 capacity building programs to 5,400 participants coming from Latin America to the Pacific and from Asia to Africa and the Middle East," the ministry quoted Esti as saying on its website on Saturday (April 2).

She said 65 of the 460 capacity building programs were related to the agricultural sector.

Agriculture remains one of the key technical cooperation program areas that Indonesia has made available to the countries, she said.

"I am proud of Indonesia having a reputation of being a provider of innovative and effective capacity building programs ass per the receiving countries needs," she said.

Esti said Indonesia has fulfilled its commitment to promote technical cooperation programs and share its best experience with other countries. It has been offering training programs since 1981, as also exchanging experiences and knowledge.

"As a middle income country and a G20 member state, Indonesia has played an important role in providing development assistance to fellow developing nations," she said.
