Oliver Lewis Joins CPD as Senior Visiting Fellow

The USC Center on Public Diplomacy is pleased to welcome Oliver Lewis as CPD Visiting Fellow (non-residential) for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Lewis brings experience as a public diplomacy practitioner, scholar and technologist, having taught at diplomatic and military colleges around the world. He currently is a Senior Research Associate in the Changing Character of War Centre at the University of Oxford. Previously, he was a founding fellow of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s Diplomatic Academy and director of the UK Government Digital Academy, in addition to serving as a senior civil servant in the UK Cabinet Office, Ministry of Defence and Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

"There are few places that advocate for the importance of storytelling in international politics. Of those few, CPD is one of the strongest and most eloquent voices in that advocacy," said Lewis. "I'm thrilled to be joining the team to add my voice to that argument. While at CPD I'm excited to make a scholarly contribution examining the similarities between the creative industries and national security. With research like this I believe we can learn how to be better diplomats, better security officials, and more compellingly articulate the mission of diplomacy and national defense in the U.S., Britain and Europe."
