The U.S. State Department partnered with USA Volleyball to bring Team Iran to the United States in a historic visit, the first after 35 years. Both teams used the opportunity to tune up for the World Championships in Poland. Each played four matches against each other and attended a number of social events. The U.S. State Department sees people-to-people exchanges, especially in arts, culture, sports, and education as a way to promote goodwill and mutual understanding.
