Green T-shirts flooded the State Department on Wednesday during an event that celebrated the graduation of teenage “Peace Ambassadors” from India, Pakistan and Afghanistan from a programme aimed at promoting cross-border understanding in the leaders of the future.

India has said that, for bridging the "trust deficit" with Pakistan, it was ready to address all issues of mutual concern through dialogue and peaceful negotiations and called for "creative solutions" to solve the problems that have bedevilled the bilateral relationship for decades.

The suspension of the India-Pakistan composite dialogue in the wake of the 2008 Mumbai attacks allowed non-state actors to succeed in "dictating their agenda", Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Monday.

At this week’s first U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue in Washington, D.C., talks between the two countries will cover the spectrum of bilateral and multilateral issues, from trade and economic cooperation to terrorism and regional security.
