Stanislav Budnitskiy is a PhD Candidate at the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). He researches and writes on Internet governance, nation branding, mediatized public diplomacy, and Russian media and politics.
Stanislav has interned and worked as a writer and producer with Reuters, The Los Angeles Times, BBC radio and television, and other English and Russian-language media. Stanislav is a 2005-2006 fellow of the IREX Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) and a 2013-2014 fellow of the Stanford U.S.-Russia Forum. Stanislav is a Doctoral Fellow with The SecDev Foundation think tank. In 2016, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Global Communication Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and a Research Assistant at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.
Stanislav holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (2009) and a Master’s degrees in Media Management (2011) from the Higher School of Economics (Moscow, Russia), as well as a Master’s degree in Nationalism Studies (2012) from the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary).
Stanislav was selected as a recipient of the CPD Doctoral Dissertation Award for the 2016-2017 academic year.
