Basketball Diplomacy: Lunch with the North Korean Team

Even though the United States of America and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are not exactly best friends, there is at least one thing that the North Korean supreme leader, Kim Jong Un, likes about the U.S.: Basketball. Ryan Duff, VICE correspondent, and Dennis Rodman, ex-NBA star, travelled to North Korea with the intention of bringing the nations one step closer to each other through Sports Diplomacy by organizing a match between a U.S. team and the North Korean team. This video highlights parts of the HBO episode “The Hermit Kingdom: Basketball Diplomacy,“ which provides insight into life inside Pyongyang, the basketball match itself, and the surprise visit of Kim Jong Un to the game.
