The Atlantic compiled 40 images from the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election which features the reaction and response of both the domestic and international audiences. Various embassies throughout the world hosted events on election night to engage the world around the U.S. election. In this photo students at Menteng elementary school in Jakarta, Indonesia hold a poster of the elected President Barack Obama as they watch the election returns. 

The newest paper in the CPD Perspectives on Public Diplomacy series written by USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism dean, Ernest J. Wilson, III, studies the newest public diplomacy actor, Silicon Valley, as it becomes a significant player in U.S. foreign policy.

MIMA Music and the Department of State are teaming up to produce the Living Rhythms Tour with Leon Mobley. He will be touring around Nambia, Malawi, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe to engage young people in the power of music. In this clip Mobley, teaches young people in Mozambique necessity of musical technique on the djembe drum.

Leon Mobley is teaming up with MIMA Music and the Department of State to support the Living Rhythms Tour. Mobley will be touring around
Nambia, Malawi, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe to teach young people about social change through music. In this clip Mobley inspires South African Youth to follow their dreams.

In the weeks leading to Election Day, the Elliott School’s Web Video Initiative posts videos that explore the major foreign policy issues facing the next U.S. president. Each installment features an Elliott School faculty expert outlining the greatest challenges in their field. In this video, Nathan Brown, professor of political science and international affairs, discusses the changing landscape in the Middle East that will face the next U.S. president.

In light of the tragic death of Ambassador Stevens, Ambassador Kmiec- who resigned from his ambassadorship early this year- has stepped forward to offer help to the US Embassy in Libya. Ambassador Kmiec represents a renewed effort to opening lines of inter-faith diplomacy that may avert the spark of violence over religious ignorance and hateful publications without sensitivity to beliefs different from our own.

Speaking to a full house of USC students and faculty on October 2, Under Secretary of State Tara D. Sonenshine provided an insider's glimpse into the work of the Office of Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs.
