CPD Director Takes Part in Conference on Media and Public Diplomacy in the Muslim World

Philip Seib participated in a conference on “Media and Policy in the Muslim World,” organized by Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communication and sponsored by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

The conference, held at the Rockefeller family estate conference center outside New York City, addressed journalism professionalism in transitional political cultures, news media influence on government policymaking, and the relationship between journalism and public diplomacy. Among the other attendees were the ambassadors to the United States of Indonesia and Pakistan, the former foreign minister of Lebanon, the executive director of Al Arabiya Television, and representatives of several media organizations and NGOs.
