Levine Named New CPD Advisory Board Chair

The USC Center on Public Diplomacy is pleased to announce that Mel Levine will serve as the new chair of its Advisory Board. Levine succeeds Kimberly Marteau Emerson, who served as chair since 2012 and is relocating to Berlin with her husband, John Emerson, who was recently appointed U.S. Ambassador to Germany. Marteau Emerson will continue to serve on the CPD Advisory Board.

An attorney and former U.S. Congressman, Levine is a Director of the Pacific Council on International Policy and has served as U.S. Chair of the U.S.-Israel-Palestinian "Anti-Incitement" committee. "Mel Levine’s international experience, and knowledge of United States policy and governance will help CPD position itself even more prominently in the global dialogue on public diplomacy,” said Ernest J. Wilson, Dean of the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.

Jay Wang, Director of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, adds: “We are delighted that Mel will step into this leadership role on CPD’s Advisory Board and grateful for the significant strides to engage our board made by Kimberly during her productive tenure as chair of the board.”

"I look forward to building on the excellent foundation set by Kimberly and Bill Luers, both of whom have done a great deal to shape and energize this impressive board,” said Levine. “CPD is doing exciting and important work to broaden the conversation about public diplomacy, and I'm pleased to play a role in raising the Center's visibility among new and varied constituents around the world."

Levine has served as a CPD Advisory Board member since 2011. His full bio can be found here.
