World Water Day

With World Water Day coming up on March 22nd, this is a great time to consider the public diplomacy aspects of global water issues. CPD has a number of valuable resources right here on our site. Highlights include:

  • Policy Brief: Water & Public Diplomacy” from the CPD Water Diplomacy Initiative. The brief summary reads: “Water, essential to humankind’s existence, is increasingly unavailable because of pollution, inadequate conservation programs and mismanagement of water resources…Public diplomacy tools must be harnessed to tackle this critical topic if water-related foreign policy objectives are to be met. This is Water Diplomacy.”
  • Water, Terrorism, and Public Diplomacy” by Philip Seib. This blog post examines the need for a public diplomacy response to the relationship between extremism and poverty/lack of access to natural resources.
  • On World Water Day, Focus on the Publics” by Naomi Leight. This brief blog entry considers the crucial element of listening to publics when engaging in water diplomacy.
